is a Training Course focused on gender equality. The overall aim is increasing youngsters' knowledge and awareness on gender issues, giving instruments to Youth Associations to work on these topics on European level. Young workers and leaders of youth association deal with gender equality will gather in Calabria, a region in the south of Italy. The aim is also to give a decisive drift to the creation of a Euro-Mediterranean network centred on the topic of equal opportunities and gender in youth policies in the Mediterranean and European countries. Diagonal Calabria is a local section of Diagonal Italy. It has already applied for projects in the framework of several funding for youth people (YIA and Minpogas).
This project gives to Youth Associations in the Mediterranean area the possibility to meet, to share experiences and good practices and to strength partnership and cohesion. During 10 days 22 youngsters from 14 European and Mediterranean countries will debate on different and complementary aspects of gender equality. This duration is essential for carrying out a deep analyse and implementing different kind of activities and to reach civil society and institutions. The target group includes volunteers, youth workers and other multipliers of partner organizations that deal with gender issues. The working methods want to contribute to the promotion of social and personal development of participants involved in the project.
GENDER NOSTRUM has a 4 level structure: 1) Training: through non formal education and practical workshops we intend growing the level of information, stimulating the debate and implementing understanding and consciousness on the essential value of gender equality. ; 2) Building partnerships: the association meet and share practices and debate on examples of where gender issues are hidden in youth work. The method is round tables involving actively and directly participants; 3) Open doors and practical activities: study visits at local NGOs and final conference in which the participants will be protagonist in organizing and leading an open debate involving local community on the status of women's rights across the Mediterranean. 4) Project our future: associations plan long-term activities and joint projects.
